Pages from 1728 Handset and Printed by Benjamin Franklin

$1,000.00

This is an unusual pair of leaves from the first book Franklin printed in his own shop. In about 1728 Franklin was apprenticing in another printers shop in Philadelphia. That printer got the job of printing this book from the local Quakers. The Quakers had a falling out with the printer and they took the job away from him. The Quakers set Franklin up in his own shop and gave him the book to complete. Ben handset the type for the leaf on the left in his employers shop and the leaf on the right was from the first job he printed in his own shop
